SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions.
- Be part of the crisis management team
- Meet with students to discuss their emotional,
social, mental and/or lifestyle concerns.
- Collaborate and consult with students, parents,
teachers, leadership team members and other stakeholders.
- Discuss desired goals and outcomes with students
and assist them in formulating goals and adopting strategies to address
their respective concerns.
- Provide relevant information or resources specific
to students’ needs within the confines of the budget.
- Maintain confidential records for students who
receive counselling
- Monitor student progress.
- Conduct regular case management meetings with the
Student Success Programme Leader
- Share strategies to support students’
socio-emotional achievement with parents, teachers and other educators.
- Actively assist students individually and as grades
with various transition phases as they progress through school i.e. Early
Years to PYP, PYP to MYP, MYP to DP and DP to Uni.
- Support students and families with school and/or
community resources for additional assistance.
- Provide crisis support and assistance to students,
teachers and families.
- Act as a facilitator of group counselling sessions
or a mediator in a conflict resolution situation.
- Refer students to other healthcare professionals as
appropriate.
- Formulate and execute lesson plans on life
skills.
- Offer PD to staff on various topics to support
students’ socio-emotional development, mindfulness, etc.
- Attend necessary training and opportunities for
professional development Ensure all school values are understood and
practised.
- Enhance the support for homeroom teachers by
guiding them through the planning and implementation of emerging
themes.
General
The counselor is expected
to:
Support community-related
activities in the promotion of the ‘life of the school’. -
- Provide support for other activities as deemed
appropriate by the Head of School within the scope of responsibilities as
counselor.
- Any other duties that may, from time to time,
reasonably be required within the general level of responsibility of the
post.
Review
This Job Description will be
reviewed as part of the School’s Appraisal Process. It may also be reviewed by
mutual agreement outside such a cycle at the request of either the Head of
School or the post holder.
