SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collegially within the SLT to support the
school’s vision, mission and philosophy; support the school’s curricular
and philosophical commitments as an IB MYP School; and assist the SLT in
meeting its planning goals.
- Work with the Head of Middle and High School
to ensure that the school’s curriculum provides a safe, supportive
learning environment for students, teachers and all other members of the
OIS community at all times.
- The MYP Leader is the pedagogical leader of the MYP
in the secondary school and as such is responsible for planning and/or
leading professional development as well as presenting orientations and
other informational programs for parents, teachers and students.
- Provide support for the ongoing development of
teachers within the MYP framework including identifying, facilitating and
encouraging professional development opportunities in relation to the
program.
- The IB MYP Leader is the link between the school
and the necessary IB MYP regional global office to ensure all requirements
of IB are carried out as necessary.
- The IB MYP Leader is responsible for the curricular
program in Grades 6 to 10 and, in all IB MYP related curriculum matters
including managing the process of curriculum review and development for
each of the eight subject groups to ensure alignment and progression with
MYP standards and practices, and ensuring it meets the needs of all the
students.
- Preparation and documentation with regards to
authorisation and evaluation visits as per the school’s MYP implementation
timeline.
- Be familiar with and advise administration and
faculty on all IB MYP related documents.
- Coordinate/communicate closely with the PYP Leader
and IBDP Leader at OIS to ensure the smooth transition of Grade 5 students
into MYP and Grade 10 students into the Diploma Programme.
- Oversee the MYP budget.
- Develop and administer programs to share
information between teachers returning from MYP training and the rest of
the MYP staff.
- Oversee curriculum review and facilitate curriculum
development around the themes of international mindedness, holistic
awareness, communication and intercultural understanding.
- Attend workshops and conferences as
appropriate.
- Ensure that the Personal Project supervision is
effectively planned and well-executed.
- The MYP Leader at OIS is a part-time teaching,
administrative, and pedagogical role with 75-80% of the weekly schedule
devoted to complying with coordination responsibilities.
- Participate in HOD and IB Leader meetings.
General
The teacher is expected
to:
Support community related
activities in the promotion of the ‘life of the school’. - Provide
support for other activities as deemed appropriate by the Head of School within
the scope of responsibilities as teacher.
Any other duties that may, from
time to time, reasonably be required within the general level of
responsibility of the post.
Review
This Job Description will be
reviewed as part of the School’s Appraisal Process. It may also be reviewed by
mutual agreement outside such a cycle at the request of either the Head of
School or the post holder.
