Key Deliverables:
- Oversee the inventory of lab equipment and chemical
supplies as well as ordering and handling the required chemicals under the
direction of the Head of Department.
- Maintaining the inventory spreadsheet for budget
purposes.
- Maintaining the record of text books and other
equipment through the custodian and/or stationery supplies as directed by
the Head of the Department.
- Working with various teachers within the science
department to effectively organize work schedules.
- Able to work in an environment with exposure to
chemicals including the handling of chemicals and work under a fume hood.
- Setting up equipment, chemicals and supplies for
chemistry, physics and biology labs at the middle and high school level
under the teachers’ guidance.
- Preparing molar solutions of acids by diluting
concentrated solutions and calculating relative volumes of concentrated
acid and water.
- Calculating required mass and preparing standard
solutions of salt and bases.
- Ensuring a safe work environment by complying with
the risk assessment regulations for handling hazardous materials.
- Following waste regulations and proper procedures
in the disposal of chemicals.
- Maintaining Chemical Storage standards.
- Maintaining lab equipment such as electroscopes and
ray boxes.
- Sterilizing equipment and cleaning glassware using
the appropriate solvents.
- Maintaining a set of reagents for specific lab
activities.
- Maintaining the lab record book in all the six
science labs.
- Assisting teachers in supervising activities such
as field trips in case, the need arises.
- Performing other assigned comparable or transient
duties within the area of knowledge and skills required by this job
description.
