Job Summary:
- To help foster a positive, engaging and caring

High School.
- To ensure the quality of student life in the High
School through appropriate behaviour management.
Key Responsibility Areas:
School Leadership and Direction:
- Contribute as a member of the Secondary Leadership
Team (SLT) to the development of policies and procedures for the effective
operation of the school.
- Support the Secondary Leadership Team in
implementing the objectives of the strategic plan.
- Assist the Head of High School in the continued
development of a ‘data informed learning culture’.
Staff Leadership and Development:
- Coordinate the work of the Grade Leaders in the
monitoring of student learning and student welfare.
- Coordinate and monitor the annual schedule for
advisory (homeroom) in each grade to reflect the development needs of the
students.
- Lead the work of the student support programme
team.
- Provide guidance, feedback and mentoring in support
of the professional development of the advisory staff (homeroom tutors).
- Ensure that high standards of expectation are
maintained through regular observation, evaluation and development of High
School staff.
- Contribute to the development of information
handbooks for parents, students and staff about procedures and programmes
of the High School.
- Be responsive to the concerns of parents, staff and
students, and include the people most knowledgeable about particular
concerns in seeking solutions to problems.
- Work closely with the administrative staff in the
planning and coordination of off-site learning activities.
Student Related:
- Develop and implement student programmes that build
a sense of community.
- Communicate proactively with parents/guardians
about student programmes and events.
- Coordinate the work of the High School Student
Council in ensuring a ‘voice’ for positive change.
- Ensure that teachers maintain accurate
records of attendance and performance.
- Ensure regular student/parent/teacher conferences
for reporting student progress.
- Ensure that all current academic records are kept
up to date and that archive materials are appropriately stored.
- Ensure that academic and behavioural expectations
are met. Where necessary, implement positive behaviour management
guidelines.
- Oversee day-to-day disciplinary issues, working
closely with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with school policies.
- Encourage and coordinate co-curricular and extra
curricular trips, activities and assemblies to enrich student learning and
generally promote the development of a sense of responsibility and
community spirit.
- Support the work of the Sports and Activities
Office in promoting the continued development of their programmes.
- Act as the Safeguarding Lead for the High School.
Curriculum Related:
- Lead the work of the High School advisory staff in
the development of new curriculum materials, the implementation of the
curriculum and the distribution of information to parents/guardians.
- Ensure that all programmes continue to develop in
line with IB expectations and guidelines.
- Support teachers in developing differentiated
learning opportunities and assessment experiences.
- Recommend changes in curricular provision to the
Head of High School.
General:
- Support community related activities in the
promotion of the ‘life of the school’.
- Provide support for other activities as deemed
appropriate by the Head of School within the scope of responsibilities as
Deputy Head of High School.
