SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Homeroom Teacher (HRT) in whatever way
is deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the classroom and
beyond.
- Accompany classes to single subjects and aid
teachers when required as well as work with groups of children under the
direction of the HRT and/or Single Subject Teachers.
- Implement agreed strategies for classroom
management.
- Facilitate opportunities for the children to engage
in meaningful play.
- Assist the Homeroom teacher by supporting small
group or individual instruction sessions designed to meet the learning
needs of all students. Support student learning through questioning.
- Supervise students according to the duty rota and
use appropriate strategies to support student behaviour
- Show awareness of student needs and intervene in
and interact with students when they face social, emotional, or physical
challenges.
- Communicate student observations and interactions
to the HRT and other appropriate faculty as required.
- Participate in discussions during team level
meetings
- Alongside the HRT, maintain an organized
learning environment and aid in creating and developing learning resources
and managing class systems.
General
The Assistant Teacher is expected
to:
- Support community related activities in the
promotion of the ‘life of the school’.
- Provide support for other activities as deemed
appropriate by the Head of School within the scope of
responsibilities as AT.
- Any other duties that may, from time to time,
reasonably be required within the general level of responsibility of
the post.
